Hi everyone:
I've browsed through some of the threads on this forum about competition suits and I'm still unsure of what to purchase.

Here is my info:
I'm female, normally race in a Speedo size 30, and my best events are long distance free (500 and above), 400 IM, and 200 Fly, Back, Breast. (Yes, I am waiting for an 800 IM!!!)

There seem to be so many different types of suits out there--brands, different lengths, model years, etc.

Also confusing me are the announcements that FINA has approved new suits from TYR and Speedo (http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/16814.asp).

I am looking to have the suit for two meets in March. I'll whittle down some of my choices by saying that I've always preferred Speedo suits, so would most likely pick one of theirs first.

Suggestions for suit length/back/size/model?

THANKS.
-Danielle

Are you looking inside any specific price range?

There are plenty of excellent choices offered by USMS' sponsors (http://www.usms.org/merch/sponsors.php)

The best thing you can do is try suits on at a local store. All fit differently. I recently looked into a new suit and tried on all that were out at the time. Some pinched in spots, others were too big. I have an issue of a gap on my lower back that normally is okay in practice but not when I'm racing (I also do long distance free and 400 IM). So I have the TYR Aquapel, which has been discontinued but I found a few stores with them. I get the zip back or clip back to prevent the back gap. My point is, you need to try some on to see what is comfortable on you.
