Botflies are nasty. The travel clinic doc warned us about them before we visited Costa Rica. He also asked us to wait until we got back to WA to treat it if we got one, because he had never seen one :) We asked our tour guide about them and he casually replied that they were pretty uncommon, he had only had one once.

Botflies are like cute little puppies though, compared to this little catfish:

When we went to Africia, we had to get 7 shots for all kinds of nasty stuff!! We came back home fine.:bolt:

I didn't get to the video but when I saw your "topic", for whatever reason, I thought of "Don't get your thing caught in your fly". :eek:

It is simply too wierd - I have been practicing pediatrics for 9 years, and wouldn't you know it - 2 weeks after I watched this lovely video, I had a patient when I was on call who had brought back two of these suckers from a vacation in South America! I had never seen it before in person until now!! :eek: I ended up looking like quite the star when I had them use vaseline to suffocate the critters out - they were exactly like the one in the video except (thankfully) smaller. This forum gets better all the time.
