It looks like Paul's strategy to go for the 45-49 100 FR record in the 1000 worked. He went out in 46.89, which betters John Smith's pending record of 47.47.

Smith, Paul L 48 Arizona Masters 11:00.00 11:01.07
22.43 46.89 (24.46)
1:29.94 (43.05) 2:05.43 (35.49)
2:38.72 (33.29) 3:12.81 (34.09)
3:46.42 (33.61) 4:20.44 (34.02)
4:54.75 (34.31) 5:29.25 (34.50)
6:03.27 (34.02) 6:35.83 (32.56)
7:07.83 (32.00) 7:41.03 (33.20)
8:14.31 (33.28) 8:48.01 (33.70)

Is that a typo, or did something happen during his 3rd 50? To go from a 46ish per 100 to a 43 per 50? Just seems odd to me.

Paul has swam in the lane with me a few times when he says he's tapering. Just watching how smooth he is for his pushoff is amazing.

Blast a 100 for time then a 900 warmdown.

3 open turns after the 100 begging Laura (my counter) on one end and the timers on the other end to spear me like a fat dead flounder and take me out of my misery.....

And it was a 50 backstroke.
