View Full Version : Advice needed for choosing coach

I'm an open water swimmer recovering from shoulder surgery. Before I start swimming again, I'd like to have a good coach look at my stroke to make sure I'm not doing something that will cause injury again.

I know there are lots of coaches in the SF Bay area but I have no idea what credentials I should look for or questions I should ask. (I'm much more concerned with correct form than with swimming fast.)

Any advice for how I should choose one coach over another?

There is no difference in selecting an open water or a pool coach. you have to find someone with knowledge about good swimming technique.

You would have to explain what type of injury you have had to the coach. Most of the coaches would know how to take pressure off an area of the surgery.

It should be a slow start and not be in a hurry to reach top speed.

Good luck in your search.
