View Full Version : Bouncy bulkheads?

During short-course season the Northwestern pool (50mx25yd) is set up with bulkheads separating the middle section from the shallow end and the diving well. I've noticed they seem, well, :bouncy:. I notice it in particular when I'm hanging on the wall gasping for breath and someone (or multiple someones nearly simultaneously) do flip turns. I can really feel the bulkhead move. A small movement, but it's definitely there.

Is that likely to be absorbing enough energy to be a problem? I have no idea when Northwestern's pool was built, but wonder if maybe newer pools have stiffer/stronger bulkheads.
