Here's an interesting item about China:

Swimmer Banned for Life (http://www.yahoo.com/s/910308) after he claimed he ate some tainted pork at a barbeque by accident. It contained a fat reducing steriod. :roids:

The natural evolution of "my dog ate my homework" continues. With all the junk they pump into the food chain, especially livestock, this might be the stupidest excuse yet or every athlete everywhere would be testing positive.

According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clenbuterol):
"In September 2006 over 330 people in Shanghai were reported to have been poisoned by eating pork contaminated by Clenbuterol that had been fed to the animals to keep their meat lean. There are also other informal reports on localized food contamination cases by Clenbuterol in the U.S. which led to setting rules that limit comsumption of this medicine only to horses."

Sorry, not buying it at all. I don't dispute the Chinese have a shady recent history on all sorts of stuff but the athletic world has an even shadier history of one crazy reason after another for a positive drug test. How many did Floyd Landis go through? I think there was another cyclist who claimed he had an in-utero deceased twin that made him test positive.

I guess if you haven't been exposed to all the different things steriods do, it sounds pretty weird. I don't really understand why you'd take a steriod for weight reduction. (there seem to be alot of other things you could try without risking testing positive).
Aquageek, the in-utero deceased twin must be one of the most far out ones I've heard yet.

That would have been none other than our own Tyler Hamilton who was busted for blood doping after his 2004 Olympic cycling victory. He tried the chimera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimera_%28genetics%29)defense briefly!
