Ande,
Congratulations to you as well.

Thank you for all your tips. I try and follow them - can't do 'em all. But I pick a few and focus on them.

You know I credit you with planting the seed for my training with the kids.
It's been awesome. To the extent that I am physically able, I'm getting to re-do my swimming career.

Kirk,

CONGRATULATIONS on your #1 time in the mile! I want your time!!! 'Course, pigs would probably start to fly first, but I can hope! Great job!

Jeez, Kirk, I'm just hoping to beat your mile time when I swim the 1000. I'm confident that time will hold up.

Kirk,

CONGRATULATIONS on your #1 time in the mile!

Thanks, but look at you! You're starting to look like KPN or Nadine Day with that laundry list of top ten times.

No kidding! (S)he's also been outted as an evilstroker. :P

Congrats to all!

I'm mostly happy that small team relays can still do well. No superteam recruiting needed Mr. Smith!!! :thhbbb:

Flip a coin?! Get real. I have no chance in the world of ever swimming backstroke on a medley relay ... :lmao: Look out, if there is ever an all backstroke relay! Superteams would have no chance.

Good job Pooh!

No Top Ten for me either.

But a further search revealed my 50 Back time at SCY Nats put me at 23rd in my age group (55-59). Not bad for one who didn't start swimming until 8 years ago.

I don't normally like to brag, but I am very proud of my very first top 10 ranking.

http://www.usms.org/comp/tt/toptenind.php?SwimmerID=04Z5H

That time is essentially what I was doing as a junior in high school. I've got quite a ways to go to get close to my best time of my youth but I'm working on it! (I need to learn not to take it out so fast--I'm dying too much at the end). There are some really amazing swimmers in USMS (including most of you folks who post here). I'm not sure I really belong on the same list, but I'll take it!

Nice swim. I'd love to go a 2:20 in the 2-breast someday.

Given your time (which is FAST), and the incredible times posted by the swimmers in your age group, I'd be feeling pretty darn good if I were you! That is an incredibly competitive age group, it would seem.

Thanks very much! I really didn't think I had it in me, to be honest. I think my seed time was like a 2:32 or something! But now that I've done it, I want to do better, of course!

Yeah, relays only for me, but at least it was with a real team and none of that cheating "nice to see you for the first time, let's swim our relay now" BS.

I'm proud of the blue muppet, through whom I live vicariously during SCY season. She is top 10 in her 1/2 free and backs. Moo, if you're watching, how did your amazing 50s (USMS and club) this year fit in to the top rankings?

My age group (m25-29) is extremely competitive and we have quite a few Trials qualifiers in the rankings. I was 11th in both the 500 and 1000. But I'd be willing to bet that all of the folks above me swam USAS and/or NCAA in some capacity in their youth. Me, nope.

You should be proud of your first top ten. You have earned bragging rights among all your teammates who 1) don't want to compete or 2) don't train hard and wonder why they can't swim as fast as you.

Nice work on the swim, I wish I could go your seed time! Though I did break top 100, top 75 even...I guess there aren't enough masochists who can handle the 200 BR ;) :weightlifter::roids:

I just love this attitude. You go 12 seconds under your seed time and your second thought, after "Wow, where did that swim come from" is "Oooo, I could have gone a 2:19!"

Congratulations on an outstanding effort. That'll help you stay motivated.

Congrats on everyone's Top Ten times. It was very cool when I got my first top ten in 2004. Right now, I am in the Top Ten for my 200 yd fly this year but there was an electronic timing error at the meet that I did that 200 fly at. I am pretty sure that will corrected because other people in that event have time of 1:17 which is impossible unless you are Michael Phelps.

But, I plan to be back in the Top Ten for LCM this year. I will most likely get in for the 200 fly(I did a 2:51 last weekend, 6:27 made the Top Ten last year in the 30-34 age group) this year. Now, my goal is to get in for a few more events. All I can do is my best.
In addition, one year can be really easy to make it while the next year, it will take a miracle to make it. In 2004, I got 6th the SCM 200 fly with a 2:38. The next year, I did a 2:36 and didn't even make the Top Ten.

That's a great time. Congrats on the ranking! For me, it's death to the sprints. I don't think I would have come close to a top 10 time in the 50 breaststroke in SCY. Although I too now die on the 200s, I need more than a 50 to wear down you sprinters!

Fourth in the 50. A little bit disappointing at first, but then I figured out that the top three were all Division I swimmers.
