Is there a website that shows recommended, experienced coaches? I want to take some private swim lessons but I want a coach who actually knows what s/he is talking about...

Contact your LMSC chair person. They can point you towards a good coach.

If your near UCLA get in touch with Gerry Rodriguez

Rada Owen is also excellent and coaches for SCAQ

Ehoch who posts here swims with Trojan Swim Club and can probably steer you in the right direction as well

Some teams require you to be a member of USMS, some don't...email them and find out if you can drop in and try things out.
