Please read this and post what you think. You see, I do not wish to sound like sour grapes but I have been so suspicious of the results of the womens 200m butterfly that I feel like tearing my hair out.
I feel so sorry for Jess. In Athens, there was the problem with whether the winner of this race touched the pad correctly and the judges refused to have a look at the underwater video after Asutralia protested. Jess got back into the water and proved over the next four years that she was the best womens 200 m butterflyer in the world.
After these games i do not know if she will continue swimming, but what a tragedy if she has been taken for a ride, if in the long run it shows that what swimnews writes is proven to be true.

Just a niggling correction, the bad touch happened at Worlds in Montreal in 2005 not in Athens.

I too am very suspicious of that 1-2 finish by the Chinese women. I enjoyed the article and agree with much of it.

No sour grapes here ... I'm not Australian and I'm Chinese American!

My apologies. You are absolutely correct. It was at the worlds not the olympics

Once your program is under that suspicion, it will always be under that stigma. I for one wondered about that myself, remembering the past sins of the Chinese swimmers.

The Chinese swimmers this year didn't look like men like they did in Barcelona in 1992. They seemed to have a woman's body this year. I remember those Chinese girls from Barcelona and man, they looked like they were on superroids. I just didn't see that at these games.

Geez!!! I do not know what to say! I think I feel shattered. Sort of the feeling of being sold out! Jess has been with Ken Woods for years, and is very loyal to him. I wish I could say the same about him to Jess. Always, always money talks!!!:shakeshead:

I read that this morning and I was disgusted. I wonder how Schipper is feeling after hearing about this. Well, now she has potentially been "robbed" of a gold medal - maybe he will give her a cut of that BIG MONEY. What a jerk.

No drug cheat these days who's worth their salt would look overtly different than any clean athlete.

Project 119 (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/16/sports/olympics/16relay.html?ex=1376625600&en=4d774a97b1cdb75f&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink)

Ostensibly, the Chinese flyers are the product of project 119, a government program to increase China's medal intake in their off events. Sounds like they bought Wood's training regimen for the program.

Poor Jessica!! That has got to hurt....being sold out by your own coach. That's just wrong. If I were Jessica, I'd be looking for a new coach!:shakeshead:

I would be offended if my coach lacked the civility and sportsmanship to share his training methods with others. Big deal. Oh and he got paid to do it to. Should he work for free?

I'm sure he was being paid very well to coach Jessica. Swimming in Australia is like football is in the US.
