2003 Long Course Nationals

The complete set of information for the 2003 USMS Long Course Nationals can now be found at http://www.usms.org/comp/lcnats03/. The meet will be held from August 13-17 at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ. The entry deadlines are: postmarked by July 2 or received via US Mail by July 9 or on line entry by July 9. The on line entry sysytem is planned to be available within the next few weeks.

There has been some confusion over what is printed in Swim Magazine regarding the 800 and 1500 for this meet. Swimmers are allowed to enter both the 800 and the 1500 if the swimmer has met the qualifying time for at least one of these events. If you have not met the qualifying time for either of these events, you may enter only one of these two events.

In regards to qualifing times: How do I "translate" my short course yards times into long course entry times?

SwimInfo has a Time Conversion Utility and a list of conversions factors for each event on their website at:

Hi Chris,

Looks like Barry beat me to it, but I have something to add. There are several time conversion applets available on the web, but you will often get different results from each one. If you have time to surf, try a web search for "swim time conversion" and you should get several different options. Personally, I have used the SwimInfo tool, and more recently, I have used the time conversion tool on the Thunderbolt web site -- www.thillsswimming.com -- that one seems to be a little more conservative than some of the others.
