Looks like I made the Top 100 in all my events. Of course, not all the events even have 100 times submitted this year, and my SCM meet has not been submitted yet. So...

Gotta start somewhere, and starting at the bottom makes it easy to improve :)

I hope someone can fix mine in the 1500 Free which is showing red. I would hate to lose out do to a techinicality. I know I am not alone since Glider is in the same boat.

That someone is the top ten recorder for the LMSC where you swam the meet. Note - they will send the official LMSC top ten report for the season, not make changes to Event Rankings. If you are really worried, send him/her an email.

Donna, I bet this will be cleared up without a problem. Submission for Top Ten -- due Jan 26 -- is more involved than submissions than for "current top times." I can't speak for your Top Ten person, but I know that I chase down everyone's USMS ID for my submissions. And if I get anything wrong, Mary Beth Windrath has an eagle eye and will be sure to catch it.

So as long as your registration was in order when you swam, you'll be fine. Though it doesn't hurt to drop a line to your Top Ten person (maybe, for example, your USMS ID number was entered incorrectly into the Meet Manager file).

Donna,

I talked to Saltzman at the USAS meet Friday. He has all our IDs for the SCC meet. He's just a little, how you say... miffed at the meet folks for not including them with the results. I'll follow up with him on email and copy you.

As of now, I should make Top Ten for the 800, 1500 and 200 fly. I don't think that my 400 IM ranking will hold due to the New England Champs this weekend.

What other championship meets are occuring this weekend or is NEM the last to go?

The only other meet I've noticed the rest of the year was the Mizzou Masters Meet (http://www.movymasters.org/), hosted this weekend by Jim Matysek. And he could bump me out of a TT...:bump:

Jim M, how'd you do?

The Mizzou meet results are loaded into the database. Full results will appear on the MOVY results page (http://www.movymasters.org/meet_results.htm) later tonight. I had a good meet - see my blog entry (http://forums.usms.org/blog.php?b=626) about it. Sorry, Mark - I finally had a decent 100 breast in me.

Looks like you came out unscathed on the 50 and 200 Breast. Sorry about the 100. But Jim was so nice to apologize to you perhaps he should buy you a drink:chug:.

I hope everything is in now. If so this would be my first ever top ten ever:bliss:. The closest I came was 2 years ago in my old age group where I was 11th in the 1500 Free.

A side note - while we can't begin to compete with the number of records set at the SPMA meet, I'm happy to report that we did have a world record at the Mizzou meet today. Jay Yarid set a world record in the 200 Back, 45-49 age group, at 2:10.43. :cheerleader:

The meet director is a possibility but not all of them know this. Submitting a link to the Meet Results page is not the same as getting it into Current Event Rankings. And THAT is not the same as Top Ten.

Eventually all these things will converge but we aren't there yet.

I always make it my business to submit Hy-Tek results for VA meets into the Current Event Rankings, and I know that many other Top Ten recorders do the same. But it is pretty easy for me, we just don't have a ton of meets in our LMSC. (And still I run into problems when some meet directors don't send me their Hy-Tek results despite prodding, or at least not in a very timely fashion.)

So I would be cautious about over-interpreting the "Current Event Rankings." The meet result database is not complete and has errors. The list is just not checked as rigorously as the submissions for Top Ten. Some meets may be missing, too.

A heads up to the middle distance boys in the 45-49 age group....former Gator stud Keith Switzer has quietly snuck back into competition after a 20 year layoff (and dropping about 30lbs). Chop popped in at a SCM meet a few weeks back unrested wearing a jammer and dropped a 2:00 200 free...this past weekend still unrested and sporting leggings only (and having been sick for a week) goes 1:47+ SCY.

Congratulations again, Jay.

I was in the lane next to Jay opposite Jim and saw Jay go by me in another direction but was pretty much even with Jim. I am not sure if we were blazing fast but I did not want to be lapped but was still some 29 seconds behind.

I am glad Jay got the record because I believe this was the only event he swam in the meet and he missed the record by a .01 at some prior meet. He flew from Dallas to swim this event before 12-31-08.

He should keep this record until the Albatross meet in Bethesda in March 2009, if Chris Stevenson shows up and attempts for the record then.

This happened with respect to the September Sprint Shootout in NC. A link was submitted, but masters swimmers were not ID'd and the meet results are not in the database.

To be included in the database, a link is not enough. One has to submit the Meet Manager file.

Strictly speaking, IDs are not needed to be included in the Current Rankings, but if they are omitted the swimmer will show up as "unverified."

This was the dual-sanction meet, right? I know in the past when I've submitted USA-S meets with masters swimmers, I've "cleaned it up" creating a new MM file with only the masters swimmers, and substituting USMS IDs and teams for the USA-S IDs/teams. That works if there are only a few masters swimmers. If there are more than a few, then it is more tedious (I have to do this with a couple "Recognized" meets we have every year).

How many masters swimmers were there? If it is only a handful -- maybe the ages are sufficient to ID them -- then the IDs can be looked up in the national registration database. I've had meets in the past where many of the IDs were missing or were incorrect. That's what makes the job such fun.

Hey man, you are still doing much better than I am. My best so far is 25th in the 100 br. But I have made great strides in my weight loss (-50 lbs!) and my lipid profile. A year ago, I was a walking heart attack with enough cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood glucose for several people. My family doctor wanted to pump me full of drugs but my endocrinologist wanted me to give diet and exercise one serious try. So, I did. My overall cholesterol is in the 140s with a LDL/HDL of 1.5, which is about the same as my triglycerides/HDL ratio. My BP went from 120/80 to 100/60 and my rest heart rate cooled from the 60s into the 40s.

I may never catch Roque Santos in the breaststroke and I've been trying ever since we were kids. But at least I will live long enough to keep trying.

Thank you masters swimming!!!

Without IGLA Champs and NEM Champs, I'd have more than 1 this year, but there were a lot of pup's who came out of the woodwork for both those meets. I'm currently at 3rd for the 1500 as my sole SCM hit for top 10.

Good job with the 1500 ranking. Just keep at it and you will get more than 1 TT Time in the future. After checking the NEM Champs results, I lost my Top Ten shot in the men's 30-34 400IM:bitching:, lost one spot in the 200 fly and lost 3 in the 800 free. Thank gosh, there was no 1500 at that meet. Hopefully, I won't lose anymore spots, or that many, to the "out of the wordwork" times. Now, I need a miracle to get a TT in yards.

The link posted on the meets results page is http://www.ncmasters.org/res13806.html. It says Meet Manager on the link, but I don't have any idea what that means.

It looks there are quite a few masters swimmers whose times have disappeared. It stated on the meet entry form that the times would be submitted to USMS and for TT consideration.

I'm going to attempt to find the email address of the meet director and email him. But, if he doesn't clean up his mess, the times are just lost? It really seems like this situation should not exist. And, really, Geek should not be allowed to lie about his age like that. haha

It means that Meet Manager was used to create the HTML file as a "report." You need the original file to submit the meet for the database; it is very helpful also in preparing TT submissions (though not, I guess, completely necessary).

The existence of the HTML file is good news actually: it means someone went to the trouble of separating out the masters swimmers from the USA-S swimmers. It is troubling that some swims are missing, though.

Just because it hasn't been submitted for inclusion into the meet database doesn't mean there are no plans for TT submission -- unless you've heard otherwise? This was a SCY meet and the deadline for that submission is a long way off.

I know the Top Ten person in NC. I've already finished my SCM submission report for this year, so I could help out (eg to find USMS IDs) if it is necessary. Let's talk about this by PM.

But Muppet, that was a USMS meet. It was a dual sanctioned meet and there were many masters swimmers there. I do swim mostly USMS meets. But, SIGH, I am sometimes forced to swim USS meets to swim events I can't swim at USMS meets. Plus, it's convenient if I'm there with my kid anyway.
