What songs get you in the mood to swim fast and train hard?

Please post the video and Lyrics.

Lose Yourself
YouTube - Eminem - Lose Yourself MUSIC VIDEO

The CLIMB
YouTube - Miley Cyrus - The Climb - Official Music Video (HQ)

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming but
There's a voice inside my head sayin,
You'll never reach it,
Every step I'm taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what?s waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing,
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes they knock me down but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on, cause

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

There's always going to be another mountain
I'm always going to want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes you going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It's all about
It's all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

I don't know about "inspirational," but since I've been on a Sopranos kick lately, I'll go with A3's "Woke Up This Morning." A good song to play on the way to AM practice, anyway.

Does it inspire you to go pop someone? :)

Whoever thought to use that song in the Sopranos title sequnce was a genius. So effective. I've never had HBO, so watched all the Sopranos episodes on DVD. Even though I've seen that intro a hundred times I still don't fast forward through it.

I turn the radio off when most music or songs come on. I HATE LOUD HARSH NOISES THAT COME FROM A RADIO. I do not watch Canadian Idol or the US version American Idol. I really do not think any song would assist me to want to train.

Marilyn Bell always said she sang O'Canada when she swam accross lake Ontario. Now isn't that an inspiring tune.

Good point! Didn't Ande once say that sprinters should feel like they just want to destroy their competition? Next time I'm bringing a tire iron to the blocks.

According to Wikipedia, "series creator David Chase personally selects all of the show's music with the producer Martin Bruestle and music editor Kathryn Dayak."

I agree that it is one of the best TV theme songs, IMO right up there with Isaac Hayes' "Theme from Shaft": the song itself is good and it fits well with the show.

And so far familiarity hasn't made me want to make me lose my lunch like (say) the theme songs from M*A*S*H or Friends do...

I'm having a very hard time with Ande's choice of Hanna Montana music. Disturbing, to say the least.

"Speed Of Sound" by Coldplay (sorry can't access YouTube at work)

How long before I get in?
Before it starts, before I begin?
How long before you decide?
Before I know what it feels like?
Where To, where do I go?
If you never try, then you'll never know.
How long do I have to climb,
Up on the side of this mountain of mine?

I liked the MOVIE theme song for M*A*S*H.

When I was in high school I liked music from the rock opera "Tommy" (The Who) before meets. Specifically, the "See Me, Feel Me / Listening to You" reprise.

As a Masters swimmer - probably the same stuff I would play for long road trips. Van Halen, ZZ Top. They are responsible for some traffic tickets so they did make me go fast.

How fun. Here are two that come to mind:

Beck; Loser
Van Halen; Drop Dead Legs

I, personally, think Eminem would be flattered to be mentioned in the same post as Miley Cyrus. :D An interesting pairing, to say the least...

Lately I've enjoyed the song, "Oh Saya" from Slumdog Millionaire as a psych up song.

I am completely shocked that Mr. Jeff Commings hasn't posted on this thread yet! He's the master of eccentric music choices!

Although, with it being posted yesterday, he's been battling a head cold. He might get back to it!

Awesome thread.

"Remember the Name" by Fort Minor always psychs me up.

YouTube - Fort Minor - Remember the name

I can't post all of the lyrics, but in relevant part:

This is 10 percent luck, 20 percent skill, 15 percent concentrated power of will, 5 percent pleasure, 50 percent pain and 100 percent reason to remember the name.

This song always makes me happy, but not quite at its fly stroke rate . . .

YouTube - "Babylon" Music Video - David Gray

(David Gray's "Babylon")

Friday night
I'm going nowhere
All the lights are changing green to red
Turning over TV stations
Situations running through my head
Well looking back through time
You know it's clear that I've been blind
I've been a fool
To ever open up my heart
To all that jealousy,
that bitterness,
that ridicule
Saturday I'm running wild
And all the lights are changing red to green
Moving through the crowd I'm pushing
Chemicals all rushing through my bloodstream
Only wish that you were here
You know I'm seeing it so clear
I've been afraid
To tell you how I really feel
Admit to some of those bad mistakes I've made
If you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon
Sunday all the lights of London Shining ,
Sky is fading red to blue
I'm kicking through the
Autumn leaves
And wondering where it is you might be going to
Turning back for home
You know I'm feeling so alone
I can't believe
Climbing on the stair
I turn around to see you smiling there
In front of me
If you want it
Come and get it
Crying out loud
The love that I was
Giving you was
Never in doubt
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Let go your heart
Let go your head
And feel it now
Babylon, Babylon, Babylon

How could I leave out Emily Elbert? She gets me through sleepless nights (too often) (tonight, for example).

Also what birds start singing at 3:04 a.m.? Muy molestando.

Get pumped to race: YouTube - AC/DC - Back in Black

I've intentionally avoided listening to this song for a couple of decades, not wanting to diminish it's impact, anticipating an eventual return to serious competition.

I will listen to it a week from Thursday.:D
