View Full Version : Speedo brief vs. Speedo jammer

Which would be faster in a sprint meet taking into consideration that I have some (but not overly much) leg hair? I'm referring to the plain racing brief that Speedo sells and their cheapest jammer (ie. NOT the FastSkin or Aquablade). I mean, is this nylon/lycra material more "slippery" than skin or not? If it's not then I would probably be better off with less fabric and therefore the brief. I have no real preference otherwise between the brief or jammer, so which is faster?

Hmmm... that's a good one. There has been much discussion on alt.swimming.rec (or something like that) on the topic of fatskins, but not much on jammers, aquablades, and regular speedos. I would think that you should wear whatever makes you feel faster. I personally think that hi-tech suits do nothing but coddle the mind.

Swimming is a total mind game. If wearing a jammer makes you faster in your mind, by all means wear the jammer. It may or may not be hydronamically (sp?) superior, but who cares? If it makes you swim faster, that's what counts.
