The editorial in the current issue of Swimming World promotes the idea of a "Professional Swimming League" where technology would be allowed to run wild,where there would be monofin races,and even the idea of races with no lane lines and only 2 touch pads.The idea would be that FINA could have it's records and rules but that this league would be more telegenic and get more people interested.I suggest you read the article and see what you think.I may be just an old fuddy-duddy,but I don't find the concept of kayak racing in a pool or demolition derby in a pool too exciting.(We actually already have demolition derby in the pool,it's called water polo.)

Sounds like fun, but I think that individual sports where the goal is to get from point A to point B don't tend to excite the general public.

Now if there were hungry sharks in the pool or allowed wardrobe malfunctions, then you might get the viewership up there.
