While perusing the heat sheets for next week's Nationals, I saw a familiar name: Claudia Poll, an Olympic gold-medalist from Costa Rica. I'm excited to see her swim.

I got to wondering... how many other Olympians are entered in the meet? Not having grown up swimming I am sure that there are a lot of names I didn't catch. Please add to my list! The meet roster can be found here. (http://www.usms.org/comp/lcnats09/heats/roster.php)

The ones I have found so far are:

Claudia Poll
Rowdy Gaines
Chris Stevenson
Jim Montgomery

Oyakawa, Yoshi

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoshinobu_Oyakawa

Yoshinobu ("Yoshi") Oyakawa won the 100m Backstroke at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helsinki,_Finland).
He is considered to be the last of the great "straight-arm-pull" backstrokers

i swam next to claudia poll in a 400 IM in fort lauderdale 2008 feb. she had a young baby. needless to say..... i thought she looked great. it was so intimidating. but they only had one heat of the 400im.

worlds are full of ex-olympians. one of my breasstroke heats in 2000 was all ex-communist country swimmers and then me. i looked like a little kid up on the blocks next to them.
i have learned one lesson going to worlds. when it is in europe best to avoid breaststroke - first stroke they learn in lessons, whereas we learn freestyle . (this was told to me by the competitors)
200 fly and long free events are the ones to pick lol.
never gonna happen

Just 1984.

Nice job in LA in 84. Why was your first name spelled with a K at that time?

It wasn't...double translation (English to Greek back to English). The Greek language doesn't have a letter 'C', only a 'K' (kappa).

USA swimming has a posting listing all the olympians:

http://www.usaswimming.org/USASWeb/_Rainbow/Documents/225f43ba-bec7-402d-aa0b-5d673e00e6fc/alltime_olympians.pdf

If you think someone was an Olympian, you can check this listings. Not sure if they list the 1980 team members, but hope they do.
