Putin could use some work on his technique! He appears to be in great shape, though.

Gerald Ford (http://www.whitehousemuseum.org/grounds/pool.htm) had daily evening swims. Don't know if he's good at it, though - I'd be more interested in knowing which leader was a truly good swimmer. Lenin (http://englishrussia.com/?p=1846) seemed to be an unconventional swimmer :D. Now can anyone tell what stroke Mao was swimming? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN1P2DHE26g:rolleyes:)

(Oops, just noticed 2/3 mentioned above are communist leaders. Now plus Putin... maybe that's what made communism strong )

I've read that Reagan swam quite frequently.

Anyone else notice the resemblance in the picture of Putin to Jim Thornton? Also notice that you have NEVER seen the two together at the same time. That, and Jim has been advocating COMMUNISTIC, SOCIALIZED MEDICINE (women faint and weak men cry) just like the Soviet system?

Either that or maybe the Thornton "twins" were really triplets...

Chairman Mao used to swim. Famous picture of him in (I think) the Yangzee River, but don't have a link. He did Evilstroke, which pretty well tells you everything you need to know about that stroke...

There's also Harold Holt - he was a Prime Minister of Australia in the sixties. He was a surfer and an open water swimmer, but one day misjudged the surf and drowned.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/175-years/mr-holt-believed-dead/2006/04/17/1145126044958.html

Australians later built a swimming pool and named it after him: http://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/www/html/1863-harold-holt-swim-centre.asp

His butterfly reminds me of people swimming the 200 with a very long glide.

I believe he's also a black belt (either Karate or Judo).........

I seem to remember that Saddam Hussein liked getting wet (but I believe that was in either the sea or a river.) The late :canada:P.E.Trudeau (ex-Prime Minister of Canada) had an indoor pool built at 24 Sussex Drive (our equivalent of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.)
