Hey does anyone know where to buy suits online that aren't $80.
Preferably like 30 and under, I know there are some good sites out there b/c people have told me about them before but I just can't find them!
Thanks,
Whitney

I also like the Victor grab bag suits alot.

Another couple good options I've found are 1) Kiefer housebrand Powerback suits, www.kiefer.com They are $24 and last pretty well. And 2) Arena sells suits at their outlet link from www.teamarena.com/ and the polyester ones last like crazy so your $32 goes a long way.

Good Luck!

They're great- but I find that they tend to run small... imo, if someone wants to get one, order a size larger...

there is size info that says unless you are a competitive swimmer order a size larger.

Thanks for all the links. I was just wondering which kind of suit would be best to train/race in. Is polyester or lycra better and which holds up longers?

Alot of people like lycra based suits for racing as they fit very tightly. However, from what I hear, the polyester suits last longer and don't "die" so would be better for training and daily swims.

I can "kill" a lycra based suit in about 9 months of swimming. I get about 3 months of summer swimming (daily) and another 4-6 months of indoor swimming (3-4x a week). That's with rinsing it after every swim and washing it with woolite (by hand) every few wearings. Line dry only!

Hey Pink,
There have been lots of previous posts re: this subject.

Try exploring the Search function too. :)

Polyester suits are great. They last forever and they come in prints. In answer to your original question, the best place to buy suits is at a Masters Nationals. I went to AZ and bought two print polyester suits for $40. Great deal!

I happened to waddle into my local Sports Authority on Saturday and they were having a great sale on suits- i picked up two Adidas suits for 22.50 each... other brands were on sale also (up to 60% off). And no, I don't get a commission!! :)

peace...

Lycra suits are great, for a short time. I generally wear one out in about two months of swimming. They tend to wear out quite dramatically all at once.

I bought a Speedo nylon mesh drag suit and it is indestructible. I've had it for over a year and looks like the day I got it.

www.swimmingetc.com == it's a small outfit in Long Island NY and she sells female discontinued TYR suits for around $30-40. She doesn't have a huge selection but the prices are good. ALso has standard Speedo and TYR current suits (solids and some current patterns) for pretty good prices.

I haven't seen the polyester suits anywhere. Where do I find them? Do they stretch as much as Lycra -- should I order bigger than I would Lycra?

My TYR Lycra maxback suits are lasting only 2-3 mos (4ish days/wk in the pool) due to the awful chemicals at our Y. Plus, I think they are making them thinner than they used to --- ARRGHHHH. I can't wear Speedo or any other brand becaue they're not cut right for me.

There is someone selling new adidas full body swim/race suits on ebay for around $30. Do a search for "adidas swim skin" and you should find them. He has mens sizes only but says they will fit women.

Costco stores (at least here in Calif) have carried speedo women's suits for the past two summers, one piece nylon/lycra/spandex, three styles (different leg cuts and backs), solids and prints, for $19.99. I haven't found a better deal anywhere.

At least at my Costco--the Speedo suits that are available are from the Women's line and have either soft/shelf bras or more of a cup. I've tried them on and they're not nearly as comfortable as the competition suits.
The ladies line is designed for swimmers BUT the backs and shoulder straps aren't cut right if you do alot of faster swimming. If you're swimming for just exercise (and not for speed) they may be fine.

I'm actually not looking for "womens" suits. The cups and backs aren't right for me. I do alot of speed swimming so I'm looking for more of a race suit. Without all the extra padding and different leg cuts.

Hello: you don't have to go on line to buy good swim suits at good prices. I have gone to Sportsmart or even Value City and found Speddos for $20. The best time to get this is by the end of the summer when everything is on sale. Believe me, I bought Speddos on line and they are no better than the ones I got at this stores. And I saved the shipping and handling charge. When ever you see this type of suits on sale, buy several and put them away. Because sooner or later, on line or store bought suits will fade. Good luck!:)
