Me too,but now that I've learned his training secrets I hope to close the gap.
NW Zone doesn't have any bids this year for Zones so SPMA is my best chance. To anyone going there for the first time, bring warm clothes as the pool is indoors but the air is not heated and it always seems to be cold.

The only question is what split is he going for?

I'm heading to NE Champs in Boston.

Leslie, you know me so well. BTW, it's the 100, then a 700 warm down.

We just had a major panic here in Colorado. I'm primarily going to this meet to focus on relays. Paul Smith e-mailed to say that 3 of the 4 relay members signed up with their club team instead of CMS. After a flurry of phone calls we got it straightened out. Whew.

Clemmons, your 160+ mixed 400 medley relay record is going down by over 50seconds!

Yes, I figured you were either going for a split or trying to get in some conditioning.

You're assuming no one jumps...
Everything in life's temporary. I wasn't holding out a whole lot of hope for that relay, but alas, we did hold on to it for a bit - I think. I haven't even had the time to see what the results have been from other meets.

kind of a crisis when relay members aren't correctly affilliated

last year at RJ I went for a 50 time in the 800

The sun had set, it was dark, I didn't get to warm up in the competition pool
so my first turn in the competition pool was at full speed in the dark plus I'm near sighted. Didn't hit it right. Time was a little off.

I hope you get to warm up in the racing pool

swim faster faster,

It wasn't a Zones meet, but the New England LMSC Championships (at 660+ swimmers) was much larger than the Colonies Zones meet. Meet results have been put online at the main website, which Ande lists on the first post but I'll reproduce here:

http://www.greatbaymasters.org/09scmchamp.php

Both subtractive and cumulative splits are available (not in "publication order" yet but probably soon).

I have to give a shout-out for the Virginia LMSC :cheerleader: We only took 3 swimmers but we had an outsized impact, I think. (Mighty Mermaid Lisa Bennett is listed as UNAT-NE -- part of New England's nefarious plan to claim her for their own -- but she is registered and trains in VA.)

Of the 23 swims between the three of us:
-- 3 new WRs
-- 2 new ARs
-- 15 new meet records
-- 17 new VA LMSC records
-- 22 first-place swims (I am sorry that I spoiled our unbeaten streak by losing the 50 fly.)

It was a fun meet, very well run, highly recommended.

Chris didn't mention that the WR swims for VA swimmers were his.
Lisa Bennett had an AR in the 50 breast.
The workout group from New Hampshire (Granite State Penquins) took good care of us, so it felt like we had a team there!
I'm not of the record breaking caliber, but I had a great meet with good times.

Between Chris, Mark Gill and I, we set three new WRs in the backstrokes this weekend...

Says the woman who set something like 4 meet records -- and this is not some rinky-dink meet -- and 1 LMSC record. And that record is in an LMSC that I can proudly say (and can back up with statistical proof) has the fastest 65-69 women in the country.

And you won all your events, which isn't something I can boast of.

(Pretty funny Jeff, very Gill-like in fact...so between the two of us, how many 400 IMs did we swim this weekend? Or did you wimp out?)

Nope, Jeff did swim a very nice 400 IM at the Last Chance meet.

Apparently I enjoy the 400 IM more than you, Chris, because I spent more time doing it...

Nice breastroke splits in your 400 IM, by the way. I mean that seriously - your splits in SCM were close to what your SCY breast splits used to be so you are definitely going in the right direction. Jim Miller once lovingly said breast was your 5th best stroke. Maybe now it has moved up to be your 4th best stroke! :applaud:

OK, my first post.

I'd like to complement the VA contingent -- a really impressive performance from everyone. It was a lot of fun racing you, Chris, and eventually I'll branch out into the distance events like the 100. Maybe at the short course yards championships in May.

Cheers and happiest of new years to you,

Fritz

Welcome aboard, Fritz, and I hope to see you at national/zones meets in the future. Not sure whether to be happy or not about your "threat" to add 100s to your repertoire! :)
