I hope the link goes where I want it to.....
Two women whom I have great admiration for are planning some serious swimming this year and are featured in articles on Steve Munatones website:
http://www.thewaterisopen.com/news/cat/category/solo_challenges

If the link doesn't bring them right up, Penny Palfrey will be attempting a 72 mile swim between Oahu and Kauai in April and Anne Cleveland will be attempting a double Catalina crossing in August.

Truly inspiring!

Thanks for posting the link. How nice that you have met them!
There does seem to be an explosion in marathon swimming, as more folks figure out how to do it, and perhaps as information is more easily shared.
Huge efforts, and the rest of the list is pretty remarkable, too!

I look forward to following many boats zigzagging across the EC, and getting no sleep!
:)

Steve, I tried to search The Water is Open (and thewaterisopen) on twitter and it didn't find anything.
How do I follow the swim(s)?

Sorry to read about the wall of man-o'-wars and the early termination to Penny's swim. Will look forward to reading about her next swim!

That sounds really horrible! She handled those stings much better than I would have.
