I got ya by one year; 1962. So, that will be my guess.

P.S. I like your tag line about breaststroke! :D I'll be in all the breaststroke events... But, don't look for me in any of the center lines; I'll be riding the glide along the wall... :afraid:

Since I just joined Masters in February and didn't start doing sprint/ interval training until then (just fitness swimming before that), I decided to stick with my old high school events (breaststroke) in 2010. My goal in 2011 is to start working on IM and 50 fly, but breaststroke will always be my priority. :D

Hey, I see you're from GA, too. I live south of you at Sun City Peachtree, in Griffin, about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. I'm new here; a former California girl. :)

USMS should make this a contest. Whoever comes closest should get a t-shirt or something.

I don't know how many were in Austin (as I had to bail at the last minute), but I'll say Atlanta will be a little smaller (I don't think as many are coming from the west coast compared to Austin), so how about 1791.

Hmmm, if I'm doing the birth year thing that makes me 219. Yep, that's about how old I feel today. That works. :agree:

Haha! Glad to see thewookiee has surfaced.

Actually, the idea about prisoners being sent there is somewhat of a myth. Georgia was set up as a place for the "worthy poor" to rehabilitate themselves. Hard alcohol was forbidden for the first twenty years. Also, lawyers were not allowed to live within the city limits of Savannah. Alcohol and lawyers got these folks into the situation they were in back in the mother country, so they weren't about to let these things be a part of their new life in Georgia.

Of course, you would never know now that hard alcohol was at one time banned.

Georgia was set up as a place for the "worthy poor" to rehabilitate themselves.

The unworthy poor were sent to populate Tennessee, specifically in and around the area formerly known as Goat Gigging Holler, now known as Chattanooga.

Of course in those days being in debt was rationale to get you thrown in prison. If that was still the law today they'd need to set aside at least one state as a prison colony. Alaska would be a good choice. Plenty of room.

Alaska has too much beauty to turn into a prison. I vote for Hawaii. Nothing but ocean surrounding it.

I don't know how many were in Austin...

I have a few USMS National Champion patches with the old USMS logo on them (we now have new patches with the new logo to give out). I'll see if it is ok to give out an old patch to the person who comes closest to the final number. We won't use Price is Right rules, but the winner must be present to win (or it will go to the next closest guess who is in attendance).

FYI you can see historical attendance figures on pages 160-161 of the rulebook:

Grew up mostly in the San Gabriel Valley...Glendora, Covina and San Dimas. Lived in Newport Beach...Alta Loma...all over SoCal...

Used to surf in Newport and Huntington...sometimes as far south as San Clemente and San Onofre (Trail 2 was awesome).

Retired Army...stayed right here when I did...working with the Air Force here on a system called Joint STARS...right now the weather is great...dreading the humid months to come!!!
