If the heats will be filmed and published on the web ala 2009 Nats at Clovis? Those were/are awesome resources* and a lot of fun to watch.

*well, except for my B0nk in the 100 Fly

i was wondering the same thing. i know last year's nats were filmed by Garrett McCaffrey for floswimming. since he is with swimmingworld.tv now and floswimming seems to be a dead website, i wonder if swimmingworld will cover it.

Me, too. I downloaded my heats off of flo just in case it went away, and refer to them often to help visually imprint certain very painful lessons learned.

Lessons such as "When You Take Your First 50 Out In Under Your Then Current PR 50 In The 100 Breast You Will Die Like A Dog After the 75 And Barely Finish" and "Flailing About Madly In Weird Hybrid Straight Arm Freestyle Does Not A Fast 50 Free Make."

It was cool to hear Rowdy caling the breast heat in the backgorund, too.

I sure am going to miss the warmup/cooldown facilities at Clovis. More than once I would have an entire lane to myself. Don't think we'll have that luxury this year.

found a link on swimnetwork.com

looks like the best they are going to do though is show highlight clips and behind the scenes video. nothing like the race by race videos of last year.

I think until there is a way for a company to actually make money - or at the minimum at least receive compensation for expenses and a day's pay, we are not going to be able to expect this service consistently at meets.

Livestream is REALLY cool.
But how many of you chipped in even $25. last year to cover expenses for a company to come in and film?
In Long Beach LiveSwim.net did set up a sponsorship opportunity to see if there was interest.

Anyone talk to Garrett or Chris (film crew) near the end of Nationals in Clovis last year?
They were functioning great, but looked like the walking dead!

After watching some of the Zone Champs coverage via friends on Facebook, it sure seems like swimmers video taping each other works pretty well.

While we work through this logistic of hiring and compensating a film crew to LIVESTREAM, lets all bring our Flip cameras to the meet and be sure to offer to film each other.
(be sure to label your camera with your name)

Better than nothing.
Watching yourself on film and opening it up to critique from your coach and friends is worth a million if you care about improving and getting faster.

I did. I stopped Garrett one day, introduced myself, and thanked him for all they were doing. "Walking dead" is about right. He was polite and personable, but looked absolutely wrung out. I think maybe what had seemed like a good idea at the outset (film and call every heat) turned out be a bit more of a Herculean feat than they anticipated, especially in the unrelenting sun and heat of Clovis.

I give Garrett and Chris great credit for seeing it through and getting it up online. It really is an incredible resource. Thanks again, guys.
