This week the inflatable dam that created Tempe Town Lake - the site of Ironman Arizona, SOMA Half ironman, and other tris and OW swims - burst.

They expect to have it repaired by IMAZ, but not the races before. I know there was at least one 2.4 mile race there in Oct- Nov. Sucks for the RDs, but probably good it didn't happen mid-race (although, it would make for a fast "downstream" leg!)

I'm hoping they get it all put back together sooner than Ironman. I'm swimming the AZ Open Water series put on by DCB Adventures, and the 5th and final event is scheduled for Tempe Town Lake on November 6th.

Of course, my event is pretty insignificant compared to the Ironman, but I was really looking forward to swimming in Tempe Town Lake, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm guessing that DCB will have a backup plan in case it won't be ready by that date, so one way or the other I'm sure my event will take place somewhere. :)
