I am surprised to see R10, which allows kicking or gliding into the wall on the breast. Not only does it put USMS out of step with FINA rules, risking world records and rankings validity, but it seems both unnecessary and backward thinking.

Unnecessary because swimmers who turn too early already have the option to execute a very slow arm pull that lasts until they get to the wall.

Backward thinking because it would be better to better regulate positioning of the flags than to change the stroke requirements. They should never have allowed turning onto the breast in backstroke in the first place.

Rule 10 - Backstroke turn - This introduces a mess of "interpretation" as to what would be "acceptable" kicking or gliding into the turn and given it would no longer align USMS with other governing bodies, it is a big mistake. Next we'll want to allow front dives with SDK's at the start!
