From the 2010 USMS Convention - Great Lakes Zone Report

http://www.usms.org/admin/minutes/index.php?EVENTID=19

"The LMSC did have one USMS rule violation this year. Ohio caused the violation by allowing a deer to swim at the indoor pool at Cleveland State University without having it sign a release form. I did talk to Kevin McCardle, the new president of Ohio about this situation and he agreed to make sure that before anymore wild animals jump into the indoor pool at Cleveland State he will have them put there hoof or paw print on the dotted line!"

I knew that Ohio had a bunch of animal swimmers ....

:worms: BTW, I hate these stupid emoticons.

Many of you saw the article about the "swimming deer" in your monthly Streamlines e-newsletter. For those who missed it, here is the photographic evidence...

Jayhawk: I love it! My last name is Deerwester so that may become my avatar at some point.

P.S. Wouldn't most of us rather share a lane with a deer than a noodler?

That really depends - does the deer still have its antlers? :afraid:

As I recall ...

One hot steamy afternoon a friend of mine (100#) was walking her 2 (maybe 3?) Bouviers (~100# each) on leash. They walked past an indoor college swim pool that had the doors open during varsity swim practice.

The dogs bolted and ran into the pool enclosure ... and jumped in the pool to cool off.

My friend was mortified and apologized profusely !

Me too. They're so tempting, though. And evocative of my many complex emotions on swimming topics.

PS - I just learned you can only use 10 emoticons at a time. I attempted to make myself famous in the forums by using them all at once. So I'll just choose this one because it's the biggest:

I'll bet even that deer could swim a better breaststroke than I do.

Awww thanks. :) I'm just joking...I'm not *that* bad, but BR is definitely the evil stroke to me. :agree:

BTW I think we need an evil emoticon.

I agree! And, I know just the place where I would use it. ;)

Of course you were joking, but I know the feeling of having a stroke *that* bad! My backstroke may not look so bad, but it looks like slooooow motion on the videos! :cane: So, I feel your pain... :bighug:
