Barrington Swim Club Head Coach Position

The Barrington Swim Club (BSC) is seeking well-qualified candidates for a full time head coaching position. BSC is a year round, full service aquatic club with age group and senior swimming programs as well as a structured pre-team lesson program for Illinois School District 220 residents. The Barrington area is renowned for its metropolitan lifestyle in the midst of a country setting. Many residents and business owners alike all take an active role in the community and share enormous civic pride in all aspects of life here.
BSC is a USA Swimming Level 2 recognized competitive swim club that strives to help athletes of all levels reach their potential through promoting individual achievement in a team environment, emphasizing personalized instruction while encouraging fun interactive training opportunities. Our goal is to provide meaningful competitive swimming experiences for all athletes from the novice to the elite levels of our program. As the feeder program to Barrington High School, the BSC Head Coach will work in partnership with swimmers, parents, and high school personnel to prepare and provide a seamless transition for our swimmers.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate must have experience in senior and developmental level coaching of athletes; have excellent teaching skills and technical knowledge of competitive swimming, as well as experience with the administrative requirements of managing a competitive swim program. Current CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swimming Coaches certifications are required. Passing the USA Swimming background check as well as a club background check is mandatory. ASCA certification level 3 or higher is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Head Coach is responsible for all aspects related to the planning, preparation, management, and implementation of a comprehensive swim training and teaching plan. Said plan would be designed to motivate all athletes to achieve personal improvement and to progress to the senior training groups as well as to the Barrington High School swim program. The Head Coach is also responsible for managing, recruiting, and cross training the staff of assistant coaches, and for completing the administrative duties that are necessary to a competitive program. These duties include, but are not limited to, recruiting new swimmers, preparing meet entries, managing the team website and database as well as attending monthly BSC Board meetings. The Head Coach must also possess excellent communication skills and be able to effectively work with swimmers, other coaches, and parents while acting as a liaison with Barrington District 220 personnel.
