Kenyon's incredible 30+ year NCAA Championship streak, longest in any sport, now over. Gregg Parini, former Kenyon sprinter, has coached Denison for the past 20+ years. He also coaches Denison's womens' team, which also broke Kenyon's 17 year stranglehold on the distaff NCAA Championships several years ago.

Wow. That's amazing. I went there, was marginally on the recruiting roster, had a look around and never swam a stroke. Spent my college career in other pursuits, happily so. But I knew the swimmers, including Gregg Parini, a giant guy with a voice like a foghorn and a generous manner. I'm sad for Kenyon, I guess, but very happy for Parini.

Really--wow. A huge accomplishment for Jim Steen, the Kenyon coach for all those years.

That's great for Gregg! He coached me briefly when I was in high school. He coached in East Lansing, Michigan before getting the Denison job. Always amazing what a small world swimming is.

They lost by only 1 point. Ouch!

Denison had a 9 point lead before the 400 free relay. At the 300 mark of that relay, Kenyon was in first place and Denison was fourth, which would have won the meet for Kenyon. But Denison's anchor swimmer (a freshman!) passed Emory to win the meet for Denison and end Kenyon's streak. EPIC ANCHOR LEG.
