Michigan Masters swimmer Donald Pope passed away about 50 days ago. He received the 2011 Lawrence Award from Michigan Masters, which is given to a swimmer who has achieved outstanding performances in National competition over the last year.

Swimming in the 95-99 age group in 2010, he broke the USMS Record in the 200 yard Back and achieved 9 Number 1 Swims in the 2010 USMS Top Ten and was named a USMS All Star in the process.

He was a member of 2 USMS National Record Relays and 1 FINA World Record Relay. The 200 Free Relay in the 360-399 age group was the first National Record set in that age group in USMS history. The 400 Free Relay was also a first for both a USMS National Record and a FINA World Record. Donald and his relays members were featured in the May-June 2010 Swimmer Magazine.

Here is a story about Donald's life.
