hello, i Just went 24.49 in my Medley Relay today for my butterfly split doing a quick catch EXACTLY like this (Kaio Almeida - butterfly - (50m) underwater side view - YouTube)

tommorow i now have the 100 butterfly and want to go 54.1-55.1 but i heard that that type of " quick-catch" in the video can cause you to drain energy in the 100 butterfly and that it should only be used for the 50....... my question is should i do the quick catch for my 100 butterfly or no?

i kinda have a stratergy i want to try but i dont think it would work.. it would be swimming the first 50 long, and strong and then do the quick catch for the next 50 but i dont think i would do that well....
any ideas suggestions?

My advice is do what you've been practicing. Trying something radically different for the first time during a race is probably not good. Have you been working on this quick catch in practice? If so, do you feel you can maintain it for a 100? I doubt many people could maintain that kind of turnover for a 100 fly.

:agree:Work on this in practice, unless it's a throw away meet/race.
