Is this just a weight loss contest or do you have to swim a certain amount to qualify? This sounds interesting but I need more information.

This is a competition of a different kind. Congratulations in advance to those who enter a roughly 10-week weight loss challenge!
This is one instance in which loading up on Super Bowl Sunday, the first weigh-in date, gives you a head-start on the competition!
:applaud:

And you can overlap this challenge with the February Fitness Froggy Challenge, run by Tualatin Hills Barracudas, OR: swim at least 20 days in Feb, get a silver froggy pin; swim at least 27 days and that frog is gold.

At the end of all that, you'll probably have swum at least 50 miles and will receive a free Go-the-Distance USMS swim cap.

*Like!*

It isn't clear that you actually have to swim at all.

I like the February Froggy Fitness Challenge:

You can do them together.
Everybody is incentivized differently.

I don't believe you have to swim, your best bet would be to email the ones in charge at the email provided in the first post. I just posted it as no one else had, I'm not on the committee that is heading the challenge.

The FFFC is a very good one, did that a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. They complement each other very well.

The only requirement to enter this fitness event is to be a member of USMS. No swimming, nor swimming capability is required. HOWEVER, In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by ones participation in swimming events, workouts, GTD fitness and similar Masters swim related activities.

Coconut water as runner up prize? Talk about a disincentive. That stuff is nasty!

Throw it in a blender with pineapple, add some club soda.

If you (any "you") have a nonswimming friend who's participating in a weight loss program, and who might be curious about how that swimming stuff works, this is a good opportunity to introduce her or him to the art.
