Anyone have a lead on a db or calendar for OW swims in South America? The fam and I are planning a trip for winter 2013, and the wife has told me that she'll go anywhere that speaks Spanish and has an OW swim for me! Now, I just can't find a calendar.

Thanks in advance for any and all help...

Cheers from Moscow,

I'm guessing the key is finding the website of the official national open-water swimming organization for each country.

For example, at maratonaaquatica.com.br (Brazil), I found this calendar (http://maratonaaquatica.com.br/calendario.asp).

And at aguas-abiertas.com.ar (Argentina), I found this calendar (http://www.aguas-abiertas.com.ar/index.php?option=com_jevents&task=cat.listevents&offset=1&category_fv=21&Itemid=3).

Thanks guys. I tried Fina, but I'm not that good! They seem to be all the pro races. ;)

I was trying to avoid checking each country's site out, Evan, hoping someone had a site like openwaterswimming.eu. But, I guess that'll be the way I gotta do it.

A friend of mine in Costa Rica sent me this link: http://us4.campaign-archive2.com/?u=3fa675ea5d0f26f303333b6d1&id=f30a457391 It's for March of this year, but you might be able to contact the organizer for more details about 2013.

It's in Playa Coco which is on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, not far from the airport in Liberia.

I love Costa Rica--I lived there from 2004-2005. There are a million fun things to do while you're there. The dry season ("summer") is from November/December thru April.

Here's another one. http://www.natacioncostarica.com/noticias-aguas-abiertas/torneo-dos-pinos-aguas-abiertas-punta-leona-2012/

My friend calls it "uno de los mejores". It's in April in Punta Leona, a little further south than the other one. Closer to San Jose than Liberia.

I too love Costa Rica. We did Tortuguero, Arenal, Monteverde, then finished our trip with a few days relaxing at a resort on the Pacific side a little southwest of Liberia. The people were the nicest I've ever encountered on a trip, very welcoming and appreciative of travelers.

No prob, STGF.

Yes, wife is a great sport. In fact, we're now searching for a kooky marathon and OW swim combo. We think we found one: http://www.marathondumedoc.com/index.html
and there is an OW swim the day after.
