Definitely capable at 29. Crap happens to everyone, doesn't mean we'll never see performances again

That's too bad. I guess that picture of him with the flab at the beach in retirement was a predictor.

Staying on top of the world stage is hard without taking time off! I would have liked to see him in 2012.

Read the article. He's not retiring. Thorpe plans to continue training and competing.

Thorpe was incredible and still is very good.
He just:
1) stayed retired to long
2) started his comeback a bit too late &
3) didn't correctly split his 200, his splits look like he swam to win instead of attempting to make finals & qualify 6th or better

the 200 Fr was his best shot
