I have to agree. I'll be swimming my LCM 400 Free on Saturday night, and I can almost guarantee that I will NOT split my 400 that well, especially in LCM.

I would argue that a 4:51 in the 400m fresstyle is indeed a very fast time for a Masters swimmer. Good time, great splits. :applaud:

Throw down a good time for me to shoot for by the end of the summer.

Plan to ;) ...went a 4:25 in SCM 400 Free 2 weeks ago in British Columbia. Supposedly the online converter says that's something like a 4:34 in LCM! I've only been 4:47 as a masters swimmer. We'll see what happens!

I saw you did that SCM 4:25. You're going to blow away that 4:47 LCM. The last time I was in reasonable shape (2009) I did a 5:04 500 which converts to 4:35 LCM.

Is it a gridge if I get two months (two months where work will prevent you from training) to train after your time is posted?

Sounds good. I'll post a respectable time for sure this weekend. Beat it if you can. :D

What time would you consider "fast" ? Nice pace to get those splits!

:) I'm sure that's WR time or so.

I'd be happy with 1:00 slower than that this weekend.

Solid effort, but somewhat disappointing after your scm time.

I've always been a SCY/SCM swimmer. My walls and turns are pretty good. No matter what throughout most of my career, I've never been able to live up to the conversions from short course into long course. I was happy with the swim, especially given the conditions and my day leading up to it.

Fair enough. I'm similar, although not due to good turns. I really need the few seconds of rest for my upper body on each wall.

No, it was in Wenatchee, WA at altitude of about 1100 ft.
Which I guess for the Portlanders and Seattleites, that is altitude. :)

I wonder if breathing all that clear, rain-cleansed air gives you a disadvantage compared to us Californians who toughen up our lungs by having to extract any oxygen through a bunch of airborne particles.

Probably. I lived in Houston for 22 yr and there the motto was"I don't trust air I can't see."

looks pretty good, maybe drop the hammer even more on your last length (increase your kick) & beat your 1st 50 split.
how are your 50, 100, 200 & 800?

I think your last 50 faster than your first means you left too much in the tank. If you have that much energy at the end, your total time would have been faster if you worked the middle harder.

I haven't swum the other distances yet, but I can assure you my 50, 100 and 200 would be horrible.
