I'll be at the PAC Masters Meet. Nearly 600 swimmers are registered, which seems pretty high for this meet.

It sure does, especially when you consider another 350 or so are entered in the Southern Pacific meet in Orange County!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but this is my first season swimming long course....

For all the long course meets I've entered so far, my age has been determined by my age as of December 31, 2012. But for one meet I entered this weekend my age is determined as of Oct, 2012. Since my birthday is in December, that means for some of my meets I'm 44 and some I'm 45.

I just find this weird since for most of the year I was in the higher age group but now I'm back down.. I'm just wondering if there's a standard or is it up to the meet organizers to determine age cut off?

I'm just wondering if there's a standard or is it up to the meet organizers to determine age cut off?USMS Rule 102.2 Age Determining Date

102.2.1 For short course yards, the eligibility of a participant for a particular age group shall be determined by the age as of the last day of the meet.

102.2.2 For short course meters and long course meters, the eligibility of a participant for a particular age group shall be determined by the age as of December 31 of the year of competition.

But for one meet I entered this weekend my age is determined as of Oct, 2012.

Is that one a yards meet or a meters meet?

You have to lay down a tougher challenge that that for That Guy!! :agree:

Such as:

I need to find a link to the meet where I set my best ever 200 LCM Fly (2:09.55)
No additional information will be given.

Good luck T.G.!! :D

This would have been easier if your name were a bit more unique. Nevertheless (http://tinyurl.com/8u3r9gc).

Yesterday results for the events appeared one at a time, shortly after they happened. That's good enough for me. :dunno:

Good one Fresnoid! :applaud: Yeah, it took that long to complete the race, but it didn't go like it looks.

I was there and saw it. If memory serves, James did not stop at the 50, but did stop at the 100 and 150. He chatted with the officials during his breaks, and had to endure me hollering nonsense at him at the 150. The 200 fly was shortly after James' 200 back. They might even have been back to back events.

Back to back was right, but I believe it was the 100 Back, of which I did post a masters best time. :anim_coffee:
I'd already posted a 200 Fly for the season, so this was a "cool down". I'm not one to skip events just because I'm tired or otherwise.

Thanks to all the fast swimming at the SPMS, Pacific Masters, and South Central Zone meets, I got bumped out of the top ten in the 200 IM and the 200 breast. And four other events are now on the bubble (400 free, 800 free, 100 fly, 50 back). Quick, somebody come up with an excuse to cancel the LCM meets next weekend! :bolt:

I'm kicking myself for not going to either the Pacific our South Pacific meets. I was dithering about whether I could survive a 1500 and missed the Pacific deadline which was on a Friday night. The Southern entry deadline was the next Monday. I decided to go ahead and enter it, but the 1500 was full.

Tpost2,

Please let me know which meet that is, so I can contact the meet director to correct their entry form. The age determining date for an LCM meet held in October, 2012 should be December 31, 2012.

You can't blame James for that cancellation! It is all your fault that people in New Orleans don't have a meet this weekend. :)

I am unable to find fault in your logic. You win this round, tjrpatt, but you haven't won the war. MY REVENGE WILL BE UNNOTICEABLE!!!

When I said I got bumped out of the top ten in the 2IM and the 2breast, I didn't notice that a couple guys who went faster than me last weekend were already ranked ahead of me. So I'm back in the running in those events! (probably not for long though)

I did not think that I would be the one who didn't notice. And yet it happened. Oh well, what can you do? :dunno:

God, I haven't looked at the rankings for like 4 days. Pat me on the back! Of course, I definitely have to look now. Well, I am not that bad. Some people look at the rankings right after their swim, ie after their warmdown.
