I am a swimmer, only a swimmer. But being that many I swim with are triathletes I have been giving this avenue some thought. So my question, if I begin running and biking will the adversely affect my swimming skills and times?:bolt:j

Probably if it takes away from time in the pool, but if you add an activity, it could help your swimming if done right. Personally I think other activities like plyometrics and weightlifting could help more than biking and distance running. Do those things to be a better triathlete.

As long as you have enough recovery time between activities, I don't think it's a bad thing. And as rtodd mentioned, if you're substituting the activities, then it will most likely not be better than if you were just swimming. The only exception I could imagine is if you were a sprinter.
