FINA held today its Swimming Technical Congress in Barcelona (ESP), with the presence of delegates from 134 National Federations.

The main decisions of the Congress were:

- Introduction of Mixed Relays, “which must consist of two men and two women”. World Records will be recognised in 50m-pool for the 4x100m free and medley mixed relays. In relation to split times in these events, they “cannot be used for records and/or entry purposes”.

- Approval of 25m World Records in the 4x50m free and 4x50m medley relays, and the 4x50m free and 4x50m medley mixed relays.

- The rules on breaststroke concerning the start and the turn remain as in the present rulebook.
