The Newburgh Sea Creatures of Southern Indiana are a growing team of just under 200 members that have a proud history of producing athletes that have gone on to become collegiate and national champions as well as Olympians. Through devotion to our mission statement which reads “Cultivating athletes, leaders, and role models through the sport of swimming”, our staff is dedicated to empowering individuals to reach their true potential regardless of their age or ability. NSC is currently looking for a hardworking and passionate team player to take our Masters and Adult Performance program to the next level.

Employment Schedule:
▪ Full year employment
▪ Reports to NSC Head Coach
▪ Hourly position
▪ Opportunities for bonuses will be based on team growth

Job Purpose/Overview:
The Lead Masters & Adult Performance Coach is responsible for managing all facets of the NSC Masters & Adult Performance program and its staff in accordance with the NSC Head Coach. The Lead Masters & Adult Performance Coach should have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to instruct individuals at various skill levels, ages, and athletic abilities. The coach should maintain strong communication with group members, and the NSC Head Coach via the NSC web site, email, in person communication, and group or individual meetings. On deck coaching time may range from 8 – 20 hours per week with all levels of athletes while time spent performing administrative duties may range from 4 – 20 hours per week. The development of community programs will also be encouraged as this is key role between the WCSC and NSC.

Key Responsibilities:


▪ Overall management of the Masters & Adult Performance program

▪ Coordinate and develop program goals, training plans and schedules, and curriculum in accordance with the Head Coach

▪ Routinely report to the Head Coach the program’s progress in relation to the goals agreed upon by the Lead Master & Adult Performance Coach and Head Coach



▪ Plan and execute structured workouts and competitive events

▪ Lead instruction of group members in all land and water based activities

▪ Assistance/ attendance at competitive team meets that include Masters athletes (including athlete entries)



▪ Routinely communicate with and educate program members

▪ Mentor and manage staff consisting of assistant coaches and in – water instructors in accordance with the Head Coach

▪ Maintain the Masters & Adult Performance page and the group’s calendar on NSC’s website



▪ Promote the Masters & Adult Performance program through coordinated marketing activities

▪ May be required to complete other duties as assigned by the NSC Head Coach







Required Knowledge and Abilities:
▪ Familiar with/ability to use Team Unify to develop meet entries and maintain the group’s page
▪ Must follow USMS and NSC code of conduct
▪ Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
▪ Must have ability to act professionally when making decisions and handling conflict
▪ Must be physically capable of sustained walking, or standing
▪ Must be willing to work flexible hours; including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Licenses/Certificates:
▪ Current USA Swimming Coach Member
▪ This includes being in compliance and up to date with USA Swimming’s requirements for all coach members including: background checks, Athlete Protection, Safety training for Swim Coaches, CPR, and Foundations of Coaching 101
▪ Must maintain USMS and GRIN swimming certifications

Education and Experience:
▪ Competitive swimming and/or triathlon background
▪ Minimum one (1) year coaching experience
▪ High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) Certificate
▪ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
