Masters Coaches at ASCA Clinic

The American Swim Coaches Association is hosting its annual World Clinic in Las Vegas from September 2-8, 2002. Twelve of the top Masters coaches in the country are scheduled to give presentations on Masters coaching and team building on Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8.

The clinic is an outstanding opportunity for current coaches to enhance their knowledge of Masters coaching, while potential Masters coaches can learn more about the trade.

For more information on the clinic, go to ASCA's site at
www.swimmingcoach.org, or contact either of these Masters representatives:

Scott Rabalais, (912) 927-7016 or vicepresident@usms.org

Mel Goldstein, (317) 253-8289 or goldstein@mindspring.com

To enhance participation, USMS is asking each LMSC to submit the name of one coach, whose registration fee ($165 value) will be paid by USMS. If you are a coach and are interested in applying for this grant, contact Scott Rabalais or Mel Goldstein. Twenty grants will be paid on a first-come, first-served basis.

The PDF application form for USMS coaches wishing to take part in this clinic can now be found at [ link removed ]. Note: the USMS grants for attendance at this clinic are all accounted for now. Coaches are still encouraged to attend the clinic - see www.swimmingcoach.org for details.

I am confused. Mels quote asks that LMSC send the name of one coach. If I read the application file it says:

USMS will pay the ASCA Member Clinic fee, a $165 value, for the first 20 applicants. If you are a Masters coach and are interested in applying for this grant, complete this registration form and mail in to the address below.

How do you want us to procede?
A. Have the LMSC send the name of a coach to Mel or Scott?

B. Have the coaches apply directly to Mel then he sends it to the LMSC?

or are you taking the LMSC out of it?

I think Pacific has a couple of coaches that would like to go and it is close.
