There's already another topic about this issue. Basically should Craig Stevens of Australia give up his Olympic spot in the 400 meter freestyle, thus allowing Australia Swimming to name a replacement--presumably Ian Thorpe?

Most of you probably know the facts: Thorpe false started in his preliminary heat of the 400 free and was DQed. The Aussie policy is the same as the U.S.: the top two finishers in individual events make the team. Thorpe has stated that he won't take the spot if Stevens is forced to withdraw because of "undue pressure."

article at swiminfo.com states that he is consulting a pr firm to see what he should do. guess that has to do with money. Seems he is in the 1500 with slim shot at a medal so publicity from "letting ian swim" adds up to cash?
