My team is organized as a corporation that rents pool time from a city. City employees maintain the pool and put in the lane lines, and we have a city employee lifeguard at each workout along with our club employee coach. We are in California. Our workers' compensation insurance carrier wants to change us to a risk classification for "swimming clubs," which includes employers who operate pools and conduct learn-to-swim and learn-to-scuba-dive programs.

If your club is similar, does your carrier put you in that risk class? It seems pretty expensive for employees who write workouts and motivate from the deck. I realize this question is a long shot but I would appreciate any insight.
