Not really a set, but I often warm-down with a 200 easy (50 back, 50 free, 50 finger tip drag, 50 free) to help remove lactic acid.

Maybe I'm not swimming hard enough/fast enough/far enough, but:

How do you know when you have lactic acid buildup?

Adam,

You would notice pain/sorness in the muscles. If you swim in personal anarobic zone/critical speed and up, lactic acid should build up.

Thanks. Now I know I'm not swimming fast/hard enough. :)

Ascending sets have been shown to remove lactate efficiently as part of a warm down.
