Aquatics Job Description


Title : Head Swimming and Water Polo Coach

PURPOSE: Provide swimming and youth water polo coaching and organization to East Lake Eagle Rays aquatics program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Provide placement testing to categorize swimmers in youth program.
 Plan and conduct swim practices for swimmers in youth swim program with practice workouts geared to appropriate experience level of swimmers.
 Plan and conduct swim practices for Masterís swimming with practice workouts geared to appropriate experience level of swimmers.
 Plan and conduct youth water polo practices (boys/girls ages 10-14).
 Provide instruction as needed to swimmers in facets of swimming (i.e. stroke, turn, start, etc).
 Provide instruction as needed to water polo players in facets of water polo (i.e. ball handling, shots, strategy, defense, etc.)
 Help plan, attend and conduct swim meets or instruction events hosted or attended by Eagle Ray swimmers including OCSC, SCS, etc.
 Help plan, coordinate and attend games or instruction events hosted or attended by Eagle Ray water polo players.
 Help to provide a positive environment with encouragement, leadership and guidance to aquatics participants.
 Set-up and take down pool as need to conduct swimming and/or water polo practices, including installing lane lines, goals, time clocks, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum:
1. Current CPR certification.
2. Current First-Aid certification.
3. Current Basic Lifeguard certification.
4. 1-3 years previous swimming and/or water polo coaching experience.
5. Knowledge of stroke development and swimming techniques.
6. Moderate knowledge of water polo skills and teaching techniques.
7. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with young children to parents.
8. Good organizations skills.
Preferred:
1. Previous head coach experience.
2. College degree.
3. High school and college swimming and/or water polo experience.
4. Knowledge exercise physiology.

What you are asking for means the coach will have to have USS Swimming qualifications as well as masters.
