View Full Version : Unattached Swimmers interested in 2006 FINA Worlds

June 5th, 2005, 08:43 PM
Anyone who is currently unattached and is interested in swimming at the 2006 FINA Worlds in Palo Alto should registered for a club in 2006. Unattached swimmers are not eligible to compete in FINA competition.

One option would be to register as an Independent member of Illinois Masters. Please see the membership page on the CMSA website. Membership Page (http://cmsaswim.usms.org/CMSAMembershipPage.html)
Cost to be an independent member of Illinois Masters is $5 per year in addition to the $34 CMSA dues.

Here is the posting from the 2006 FINA Worlds meet director that brought this club affiliation requirement to my attention.

2006 Worlds - No unattached swimmers

For those LMSCs that have unattached swimmers, I would like to point out that FINA rule MGR3:

Individual entries shall only be accepted from persons representing clubs.

This of course means that swimmers who wish to swim at the XI FINA World Masters Championships, MUST be registered with a club and CANNOT be registered unatached. For coaches, this is a chance to do some recruiting.

(Thanks to Walk Reid who mentioned that rule to me at nationals last weekend.)
