I hope for Hawaii. Ooops, just read it's in Federal Way, WA. And what does that mean...Federal Way?

Federal Way Wash is a suburb south of Seattle towards Tacoma. Federal Way is where Weyerhauser's corporate headquarters is located.

A local car dealer's TV ads (I think it was Glenn Grant Chevrolet) used to end with the tag phrase "Federal Way, the only way."

I believe that is also the phrase that started the civil war. :D

The Federal Way pool is a nice facility and it should be a good meet. Federal Way is about 15 miles south of downtown Seattle, but it's quite close to Seatac airport.

It will be an interesting experience for me. I've never commuted to a Nationals meet before :)

I agree with Kirk, it is a beautiful facility, wonderful hosts & lots of famous northwest scenery (just none in Federal Way vicinity which resembles a giant used car lot with fast food concessions.)

Roy,

Go to usms.org, Articles and Publications (at the top), Rule book, Part 1, page 42, Schedule 3, for the order of events.

Floyd,
Complete information for the meet will be posted later this year. In the meantime, I've attached the qualifying times.

Hugh

I see a few mistakes and the times seem slow to me. Are these final?

Thanks, Hugh!

I talked to Jeff about this last weekend at the Turtle and Blue Moon meet. Apparently, it was an Excel formula error.

Happy Holidays to all and fast swimming!

Anyone know why these are significantly slower than last years? I'm not complaining, just curious.

Heather,
The qualifying times for the 50s and 100s are indeed about 5% slower than previous years (top ten + 15% instead of top ten + 10 %). If you're interested in more details, see http://www.usms.org/admin/minutes/champ-2006-9-14-1.pdf for minutes of the Championship Committee meeting from this year's USMS convention.

I've only made it to Nationals once, and I'm supposed to go this year for short course. In the past, I only made it to Irvine, CA's Long Course; that was last year. Now I've made it in the 200 SCY Freestyle, and I am fully qualified for the SCY 200 Freestyle event in the SCY Nationals...

I know this is a bit off topic, but would someone mind explaining to me how the Bonuses will work at this meet? I didn't do bonuses last time because I didn't know how they worked, and by the time we realized I could have swam some, it was too late.

Thanks.

Arojekt,
I'm not sure what you mean by bonuses. Anyone can swim up to three events in which they don't make the National Qualifying Times (NQT). Is that what you mean by bonus? It's quite simple. If you don't make NQTs in any events, you can still enter three events. If you make NQTs in one event, you can swim four (the one you made plus three that you didn't). If you make NQTs in three or more events, then you can enter six.

Are you talking about Masters nationals or USA swimming nationals?

Arojekt must be thinking this is a USA Swimming meet, which doesn't give bonuses either for NQT's.

Is there a daily event list available yet?

Go to Articles & Publications, then Rule Book, and the order of events for championship meets for 2007-2011 (with various caveats) is on pages 29 and 30.

Entry deadline is April 12. On-line entry looks pretty straightforward.
