We're getting closer to the upcoming America's Swim & Fitness Festival in Miami Beach! (November 9-12th) This is the first year that proceeds are going to benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). If you can make it down to Miami, you'll have the option of participating in several distances of swimming, a 5k run, or a stationary bike race (or all 3)...Though the coolest thing about this event is that you can also raise money and swim from your hometown, and get your swim team involved too. We'll be offering prizes to the team and individual that raises the most money to help find THE CURE, such as Race Club clinics, etc. Also, stay posted to find out which Race Club members, Olympians, and other celebs will be attending.

There is an exclusive interview with Gary, list of events, and photos to give you a better idea of what ASFF is all about.

Be sure to register and start fundraising! And I KNOW I can count on all of you to spread the word amongst your teammates. AMERICA'S SWIM & FITNESS FESTIVAL (http://www.swimfitnessfestival.com)

It is not a FINA certified event, but USA Swimming is our marketing partner. In other words, the event is backed by them. You'll find more information in the upcoming Splash magazine.

This event is being produced by The Race Club. The event is really shaping up. The World Olympians Association has gotten involved and Miami Dade Public Schools. We are televising the swim race and the fitness festival. The event will be held in South Beach on the beach in front of Ocean Drive. The proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through the Gary Hall Jr. Foundation. This event will promote swimming. It will promote fitness, the prevention and treatment of obesity and diabetes. It will raise money for diabetes research to find a cure. But most importantly, it will be a lot of FUN! Check out the website. Last year's event had nearly 50,000 people in attendance. This year we hope to double that amount! We hope to grow this event to one additional city each year until it becomes a nationwide event. It's as easy as swimming a mile at your local pool to get involved and make a difference! Spread the word and join me.
