Are there time trials available at Nationals?

At big meets as a kid we'd offer time trials between prelims and finals, but since there are no prelims, does the meet allow for a time trial at any point during the meet?

I realize that you can swim 3 events in which you don't qualify, but I'm curious about swimming a 400 or 800 relay (which was the subject of my last post).

Thanks in advance!

No, there are no time trials at USMS Nationals. If you want to swim an event, then sign up and swim it!

Hey Rob, thanks for the answer. I would swim the 800 free relay, but it's not offered as an event. Oh well. I guess we'll try to break the record unshaved in season.

Swim4life,
National meets typically last ten hours or more each day. The last thing that the meet personnel want to do at 6 or 8 p.m. (after arriving at 5:30 a.m.) is stay around for time trials.
