See you there! I think that both Dynamo and Swim Atlanta masters have a good many swimmers going to Auburn. Should be fun. I have to prepare mentally as it's men and women seeded regardless of age and gender (time based only.)
Which makes me feel like :groovy: and :frustrated:

Sorry but the Savannah crew will be doing the Mt. Pleasant meet since it is closer for us. Good Luck with your swims! We'll be looking at your results when they are posted.

Any of you planning on going to Nationals at Federal Way? Helen and I are going. Hope to see some of you there.

We'll miss you guys over in Auburn Donna!
Best of luck to you as well!!

You know, I wasn't planning on going to SCY Nats. But. . . I'm sorta having second thoughts what with it being my last meet as a 30-34 yr old.
Right now, I don't know of many or any Swim Atlanta or Dyna masters women going. Where are you staying (which hotel did you decide on)? I'm having a tough time w/ that as we are given several choices. How are you dealing w/ the time difference?

kristina,

i'm obviously not a georgia swimmer, but i accidentally clicked on this thread and figured i could give a little advice on the 3 hour time difference between us on the east coast and seattle. i've been to california twice since 2005 for meets (mission viejo nats in 2005 and worlds last summer) and both times i was okay with the time change. i just made sure that i tricked my body into the right time zone- mostly just by eating meals at the "right" time based on which time zone i was in. summer 2005, for example- i left DC at 7am EST and had breakfast at the airport. landed at LAX at 1pm PST and had lunch (even though it was really almost time for dinner on the east coast). then had dinner for real around 7pm PST (again, even though it was 10pm to my body). and went to bed around 10:30PST. i woke up the next morning and was good to go for the rest of the time i was in SoCal. oh, and i made sure to drink tons of water during the flight. i think that really helped too.
you should definitely go to SCY nats- all the cool forum people are going to be there!

My teammate Helen has a room booked for us at the Holiday Inn Express. We are sharing for expense purposes. I will be picking her up at the airport on Thursday after I finish my 1650. She doesn't come in until 5:30 pm. Hopefully she won't have to wait too long on me to pick her up.

As for me I am coming in on Tuesday and staying with relatives until Thursday. This should help me have a day to adjust and not be rushed.
Then after the meet is over I will Drop Helen off at the airport and go back to my relatives for another day or so, then leave on Tuesday.

Airfair was not bad I have a flight out of Savannah thru Atlanta for $424 on Delta.

Hope you come Kristina, I think they would rather have you on a relay than me, since I don't think they have a relay for people who specialise in the 500 and above.

Thanks so much for the tips Mollie! My coach recommended the same kind of thing to me. I'm glad to hear that it worked well for you. I've only gone to a LC Nats, so a SCY Nats could be a nice change. Plus, I've never been to Federal Way.

Kristina,

Hope you come with us to Federal Way. We will have something in common with this one. This is my last meet in the 40-44 age group. This summer its up to the 45-49 group for me.

Were else but swimming can turning 35, 40, 45, etc. be worth looking forward to:joker: It's all in your point of view.

Good luck to you all at Auburn.

Being that I am in the top of my age group 59 for SCY and it is still ski season, I will not be going to Auburn or Federal Way. I will be 60 for LCM so I plan to go to Woodlands. Hoping many of you will be there. I just found out I can also compete in the 60-64 age group for triathlons, so I plan to do Tri for the Cure and Danskin this summer in Denver. Need to get a wet suit because water is much colder than Georgia. Never liked having a birthday so close to the December holidays, but now I love it!
If I come East, I will try to tie my trip with a swim meet.

Thanks Donna for filling me in on where you are staying. I'm considering the Best Western or Holiday Inn Express. I know! Aging up is, dare I say, fun - even though the 30-34; 35-39; 40-44 all seem to be about as fast. Right now, I'm sick as a dog w/ some nasty stomach virus so I'm having a hard time booking a flight when I feel so bad. But flight cost doesn't seem too terrible! Hey, I'd love to have any 500 freestyler on my relay - they are tough as nails. :) If I go, I too think I'd like to come out early to adjust to the time difference and such. You're lucky to have family out there.

Winnie, best of luck on your tri! I did them last year but I ended up spending all this time on the bike and run (as I stink in those areas) and then my swimming went way down hill as I was swimming about 1000 yds a week for months!! That's awesome that you are doing one this summer. For some reason, I liked the age up rules better with USA-T than with Masters - can't remember why. . .

Kristina,

Glad to hear others will be there. Look forward to seeing you there! Last time I went was in 2000 when I first started back swimming. Love the facility there!
