Hello all. My new head coach seems to be anti lactate threshold sets and I need some ideas for them. Any suggestions? I'm trying to remember some of our old sets and blanking out ... THANKS!!

8 x 100 on 8 minutes.

Just about any set combination will do for Lactate Threshold, as long as the overall set duration is at least 10min, and that during this duration you're not given the opportunity to rest completely.

8x100 on an interval giving you no more than 10sec (ideally 5sec) fits this description perfectly. But as you may imagine, all other combinations will do. 6x200, 20x50 3x300 whatever... or 800 continuous... these would be considered as threshold sets if the intensity is sufficient (but not too high) and that the recovery during the set is very short.

thats more like aerobic training or a lactate maximum set. Threshold set is when you have full recovery between swims.
