I'm going to be in LA next week (Mon-Fri) staying downtown at the Sheraton on Hope St. I have searched the masters teams on usms.org and found one downtown that looks like a short cab ride but wanted to check here to see if anyone is familiar with any groups.

Thanks!
Julie

I'll be in LA the week after SCY Nats and am interested in swimming with an organized program.

Would love to swim with a program that:

1) Has a coaching staff that interacts with the swimmers on correcting/improving technique.
2) Has sprint/technique oriented workouts
3) Has early morning workouts during the week.
4) Swims long course

Ma, makes me sound really picky. Not my intention but I'm seriously starved in the interaction department.

More than willing to pay $$$ to be able to swim. Will be staying somewhere within a mile of the convention center and should have access to a vehicle.

I've looked at the referenced site and it looks great but would love to get insider feedback.

Depends where you are in Los Angeles...

Try to get into a practice at SQAC where Erik Hochstein is coaching for sprinting. (I would kill to get into one of those myself!)

UCLA has a great program.

LAPS in Palos Verdes

2008 SPMA Coach of the Year Vanessa Mesia coaches in LA at Meridian Masters.

And everyone knows the super fun Grunions are in Long Beach and WH2O is in N. Hollywood.

All good coaching and welcoming.
Be sure to tell the coach you are visiting and want to WORK!

Hey Ahelee! since you mentioned UCLA Masters, I was wondering if you know more about the UCLA Master's program? I was planning on joining while I am i college but I am wondering about

1) how competitive it is
2) how organized it is
3) and if there are a lot of other swimmers.

Thanks ! :]

Max -

Apologies... I just today noticed your message!

UCLA is a GREAT masters program to check out now!

They have an awesome new coach, Scott McWilliams - and a new 50 meter pool as well.

There is always a group of swimmers from UCLA Masters at every masters meet and open water swim in SoCal.

In fact, the UCLA Masters were set up right next to my Mission Viejo Nadadores Masters team area yesterday at the Don Burns Corona Del Mar 1 Mile Swim!

Check them out Max - and we'll see you at their UCLA SCM Masters Meet in October!
