Why have they let Hilton out of jail? Pandering to her b/c she won't eat prison food. Uh Hello? That's why it's called prision--it's supposed to be punishment and not "what you want..."

She's a skinny yuck anyhow...they should put her on a drip and get some meat on her bones...

LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton was sent screaming and crying back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her sentence behind bars rather than in the comfort of her Hollywood Hills home.

"It's not right!" shouted Hilton, who violated her probation in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she cried out to her mother.

I am not so sure that what she is facing is actually reality anymore. I have heard some reports on various news stations that the punishment she is getting is non-typical for her violation. I am far from a fan of hers and I think this little jail stint might actually do her some good, but I don't think this whole thing is on the up and up.

As reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer today:

"Yesterday on 'The View", Barbara Walters shared a heartfelt chat she'd had the day before with Paris Hilton, who called her from jail in LA.

Hilton said she has undrgone a life-transformative experience that has made her a responsible grown-up. "I used to act dumb," she said. "It was an act... and that act is no longer cute."

The heiress, who insists she will serve her full 45-day sentence, said, "I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance" to live a better life."

As for me, I sincerely hope that she does manage turn it around a little. Money, fame and all that aside, it can't be much fun being her.

She showed total disregard for the leniency with which she was dealt with in the first place. Her profile made it impossible for the judge to be lenient with her. She got what she deserved. I sincerely hope she comes to no harm in jail. That said, some of these spoiled rich kids need to realise there is consequence out there which Mommy and Daddy can't buy off.

I may be hopelessly naive, but I'm willing to believe she's sincere unless/until she proves otherwise. While reckless driving is serious business and she has to recognize the potential cost to life involved, we're not talking about a serial killer. At least I hope not. Bad judgment, yes... Irresponsible behavior, yes... needing to accept consequences... yes. But hardly a John Wayne Gacy. Could we dare believe that, if it's true that jail can be salutory for people, it may have been for her?

As for the 200 fly... That's a life mistake that I have never made, although I did once try a 100 IM. It wasn't a pretty sight, but I persuaded the reporter for the local newspaper NOT to use the photo he took of me attempting butterfly. ;)

However, I will hold my "judgement" for 45 days. If she really does turn her life around, go to confession if she was raised Catholic, start caring about and giving her time to the poor, etc., and without flaunting it, only then I will believe her.

I'm very new to this USMS forum, and am just becoming aquainted w/ some of the topics posted. That said, while reading this one, I found the comments funny and interesting, except for one thing: Who the heck Paris Hilton was.

I don't own a t.v. nor am I a connoisseur of publications such as "People" or "Cosmo" - not an academic snob, just could care less. Anyway, I was forced to Google her.

The girls is an anorexic skank. How in the world is she a celebrity?!?! I can't figure out what she does to be such. Anyway, she deserves to serve time in my opinoin. As far as her "spiritual transformation", this is actually a smart move on her part (by shear accident no doubt, but smart none the less). By doing so, and by speaking to Walters and King, she has just assured herself speaking engagements in which she'll earn even higher fees, a book deal, and a movie of the week (not to mention having her face plastered across America w/ her "drive safe" ads/bilboards); all of which will only add to her appeal to...well...someone.

By the way, does anyone else remember a diver named Bruce (can't remember the last name) back in the early to mid 80s? As I recall, he was denied going to the Olympics (after making the team) due to a driving incident (details escape me now). I sure hope Paris won't have to miss her audience w/ the Pope, poor girl.

In a rather sick twist, Rocky Delgadillo, the City Attorney who helped put Paris in jail while pushing for more jail time for Paris, used taxpayer funds to the tune of over $1200 to pay for his wife's car wreck while she AND he were both driving on suspended licenses. Oh, and she fled the scene of the crime. He claimed, like Paris, to not know that his license was suspended.
