A little fun at 7000 feet!

And who could resist a meet that has a "Mel Dyk Swimmer of the Meet" award (formally known as the "The Classic VO2 min reward").

So Mel...are you gonna show up to the meet or whine about cold temps, altitude, arthritis, lunar eclipses.....:cane:

On second thought....just send your wife we all like her better! :mooning:

So, Paul, finally you are on the right track here. This is a good meet and benefits a great cause - the NAU women's swimming program. I ran the VO2 Min meet for three years and, on one memorable occasion, drank down a pony keg of Oak Creek Nut Brown Ale together with Liz Hobbs, Andy Johns (the NAU women's coach), Grace and Kevin and Sandie Easton. Aaaah, those were the days.

You REALLY don't want me to come. The last time, I won the Mel Dyck swimmer-of-the-meet award as a result of swimming 700 m of fly in competition. I even had to bend USMS rules and swim a 6th event that day, much to Judy Gillies' consternation, because Jim Stites threatened to veto me for the award if I didn't finish out with a 200 fly. To put this into perspective, in order to win, you would have to swim a 300 m breaststroke (non-stop) against Jeff Commings and come in not more than 10 seconds back. With your knees? Right.

Anyhow, unfortunately, the meet date coincides exactly with the Kevin Nash Memorial Meet in CO, one that I feel obligated to swim in Kevin's memory.

Grace says that if the food and drink are up to snuff she might show up. For those who are interested, the meet info may be found at
